School meals should include more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, low-fat milk instead of high-fat milk, sensible limits on calories, and less unhealthy fats and salt, and healthier snacks and beverages. Full Spectrum wants a change. Major changes are needed to encourage the health of the nation’s youth and to reverse the growing trends of obesity, early-onset diabetes, and hypertension, among other chronic diseases, in children and teens. Research shows us that proper nutrition improves concentration and test scores while decreasing rude behavior. There is always the worry that the kids won't eat the healthy food, but a study at, Brownwood Elementary School in Scottsboro, Alabama, proved wrong.
